Ormai XVI edizione del MEDFEST, appuntamento fisso e consolidato per gli innumerevoli visitatori, turisti ed appassionati. La quiete del piccolo centro montano prospiciente alle pendici del Montelauro, cede il passo alla freneticità artistica, al folklore, all'arte ed alla cultura, dimenticando la quiete che durante i mesi freddi impera, incontrastata, a Buccheri. Proposte nuove ed alternative che si amalgamano omogeneamente con i più antichi stilemi ed usanze popolari. La "Contaminatio" giunge al suo culmine quando gli artisti internazionali di varie etnie coabitano nei giorni dell'evento nelle tortuose vie del castello, luogo deputato alla manifestazione. I reticenti e curiosi abitanti ,ormai abituati, lasciano volare volontariamente il loro quieto vivere. Non serve parlare la stessa lingua, ci si capisce e basta ... il MEDFEST con le sue molteplici variegazioni avvolge tutti in un rito catartico, produce un interscambio fedele solo al divertimento, alla cultura storica, sociale e gastronomica. I produttori locali attenendosi severamente alla cucina tipica medievale propone pietanze desuete ed antiche, ma pregne di tempi e tradizioni lontani. Si lega al cibo, ai piatti, alle ricette, ai gusti e ai sapori il tema di questo anno "LA GOLA", intesa non come peccato, ma come capriccio, come delizia con un pizzico di sensualità. Il MEDFEST è il più importante e funzionale veicolo pubblicitario legato ad un cosi piccolo centro. I visitatori provenienti da ogni parte e di qualsiasi grado culturale e sociale propagandano l'evento, tramite un “mantra” di promozione. In quei tre giorni Buccheri indossa la veste "dell'internazionalizzazione", diventa: provincia del mondo, capoluogo di città, cerca una location ricca di arte, musica, spettacolo e cultura.

In this edition of Medfest the “Gluttony” predominates bossily. Theme chosen by me and understood as licit sin. Through the throat passes the food, the wine flows by the throat as nectar bearer of Dionysian intoxication, in the throat stops the breath caused by the ecstasy of emotions provoked by the magnificence of dance, by the wonder of feeling of art and music. The throat is the sacred hall, the anteroom where all that is out comes into our body reaching our soul. You feel a knot in the throat when you look at the sky to admire the sparkle of fireworks that colours the night plumbeous sky of Medfest. But “GLUTTONY” in the strictest sense: the ravenous greed of those who desire to satisfy his instinct. The flavours of the food that, firstly exciting our palate and then our deepest senses, let us sated. The food is not only materially that fills our stomach, but the food of MED-FEST, is seasoned with culture, art sprayed, sopped of shows, salty of dance. It’s spicy like fire. How much is imbued with seduction and sensuality in this noble and ancestral gesture. Smells stun and invade the streets of the village by capturing visitors, such as whores the cooks and the inns cause turmoil of senses. This theme changes the whole country into a Lucullan table, but not sating the crowd, the binge continues with shows of jesters, waders, mimes and musicians. But is not all, you have to eat the last meal: sparks, breathless colours, blazes of fireworks embrace the sky of Buccheri. The fire is burning, the pot is boiling, the dish is ready to serve on the 19th – 20th and 21st of August 2011...
